North Westdale Neighborhood Association
Meeting Minutes for January 9, 2006

I. Meeting called to order by Pete at 7:03 pm.
Sign-in and add names to the association e-mail.
II. Newsletter
Drafts of the current newsletter were distributed.
Corrections and additions were discussed with Vicky.
Advertising and Editorials our Newsletter: Discussion about including
information about other neighborhoods followed. Neighbors with
editorials inside or outside NWNA should make copies at their own cost
and the association might help with distribution. Town Hall meeting or
Airport notices should be posted in the newsletter as an upcoming
event. Advertising has never been included in the newsletter.
III. By-Laws Committee
Charles Wilson distributed a copy of the draft as well as a copy of the
old by-laws. Everyone was asked to review the draft and send any
comments and/or suggestions to Susan Follett by January 19.
Drafts could be posted on our website for review. Suggestions should be e-mailed to Pete at pete@petecastro.com.
IV. Santa Monica Airport Update
The panel of experts will present another Town Hall meeting. UCLA has
undertaken the project to study after requests from our
Councilman's office.
V. West LA Service Directory
Pete is putting a mini yellow pages together for service providers is our area.
VI. Mar Vista Community Council
Bajaa's post will be vacant and he urges this association to be
represented at the council. He will e-mail information to Vicky for the
newsletter.
VII. Upcoming Events
New Block Captains meeting: Monday, January 30 at 7:00 will be a Block
Captain Orientation/Meeting. If the date changes, it will be correctly
stated in the newsletter.
Meet and Greet: maybe in March for St. Patrick's Day on
Saturday, March 18 11:30 to 2:00. Potluck or donations are welcome.
VIII. New Business
CERT: The bin was cleared out but several holes in the bin's roof must
be repaired. Emergency Preparedness should be discussed at future
meetings and inform neighbors what to in the event of an emergency. A
new team should be assembled to decide the fate of the container and
how to store centralized supplies.
Repaving on Clarkson: a case number has been assigned for Federal to Butler.
IX. Announcements
National Blvd Developing: Three of 12 buildings have been developed. On
January 18, there will be an opportunity for neighborhood comments.
