a) Scholastic Book Fair
Show support for your neighborhood school by purchasing a book for yourself, a child or a Richland student or make a special book donation to the Richland Elementary Library. All proceeds will go to the Richland Elementary library renovation. Book donations will go to classroom libraries.

Hours: Monday and Wednesday 8:30am-3pm; Tuesday
8:30am-7pm; Thursday

b) Richland Elementary Open House
Welcomes Neighbors
Are you interested to get to know your local neighborhood
school? Do you have, or know someone who has, children who will soon be of
school age? Check out Richland Avenue Elementary School's Open House and meet
teachers, faculty and other parents in an interactive environment.
Refreshments--including lemonade and smoothies made from Richland's own lemon
orchard--will be sold. Proceeds go to the Library renovation project.

f) Richland Elementary Garden
Renovation Project is Underway!
Thanks to the California Conservation Corp,
Phase I for the Richland Garden
renovation, an acre-plus organic schoolyard
garden at the corner of Colby and Brookhaven, is underway and nearly complete.
The ground has been cleared for new landscaping and new pathways are being put
in. The next step is a sprinkling system. Stay tuned for updates on progress and
fundraising events. If you are interested to help
support the garden and get

Westdale Neighbors Donated $3300 to Richland Elementary Library Fund!
At the
April 12th Block Captain's Meeting, Ellen DeLeston, Richland
Elementary
principal, thanked neighbors, and specifically the North Westdale Neighborhood
Association, for their generous donations to the Richland Elementary Library
Renovation. The NWNA donated $500, and neighbors donated an additional $2,800.
Currently, Richland Elementary has a grant application pending with the Wonder
of Reading, an organization that funds local school library renovations.
